Whether you are just a casual star-gazer or looking to start your jouney toward becoming an amateur astronomer, we have the perfect course for you.
We emphasize hands-on learning that makes science and technology fun with a wide range of courses for adults.

Adult Astronomy Classes:
THE NIGHT SKY
Join us on an informative trip through our night sky. Learn how to locate and identify stars, constellations, deep-sky objects, and other celestial objects. Explore general sky motions, the celestial co-ordinate sphere, constellation mythology, solar and lunar eclipses, telescopes and astrophotography. Price includes all handouts, a sky chart, a planisphere, the RASC Beginner’s Observing Guide and evening snacks. The Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre, Observatory and the DOW Computer Lab will be used throughout the course. This is also an excellent course for teachers teaching grade 6 Sky Science or for anyone with a general interest in astronomy! STAR GAZING
Always wondered where the Big Dipper is? Then journey to the ends of the observable universe under the full dome at the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre for a look at our sky from our own backyard. Learn to use a planisphere to find objects in the sky and explore freeware astronomy software to show you where stars, constellations and planets are. Learn more about telescopes in a planetarium show and gaze through powerful telescopes (weather permitting) in the observatory for an up-close look at the Universe. A great way to start your journey in amateur astronomy!

THE 1-2-3'S OF TELESCOPE USE
Let us show you how to make the most out of your telescope. Discover how to properly set up your telescope, how to use setting circles to find celestial bodies, what accessories would be useful to you and how to take care and perform proper maintenance of your telescope. Course fee will include a planisphere and handouts. Registrants can bring their telescope for this course but it is not a requirement. If individuals are interested and have the time, they can bring their telescope outside near the Observatory after the formal course ends at 6:00 p.m. to learn how to use their telescope under the real sky (weather permitting) under the guidance of the course instructor.

Registration Deposit:
A $50 non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit is required at the time of registration with final payment due upon arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
The $50 deposit will not be refunded in the event of cancellation.
