ASTRONOMY BADGE
Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts
Look way up! This two-hour program covers material about the solar system and how to identify stars and constellations which meets the astronomy requirements for certain badges and programs (Brownie Space Badge, Guide Astronomy Badge, Cub Astronomer Badge, etc.) This program includes a live presentation on the night sky and our place in the Universe in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre, a special presentation on space science on our Demonstration Stage, and a visit to the Space Place Gallery (when available). A visit to our Observatory may occur, when weather permits, to look at objects in our night sky through telescopes. Please have your group dress warmly as the observatory is an outdoor facility. Please note that the program may run a little longer if the Observatory is used.
Dates & Times:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Saturdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am (excluding statutory holidays)
Fee:
$12.75 + GST per participant, with all group leaders being free of charge.
Programs available from October 2, 2012 to June 15, 2013.
Minimum attendance: 20 Maximum attendance: 90

ASTRONOMY/SCIENCE SLEEPOVERS
Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Junior Forest Wardens, School Groups
It's the best slumber party ever! In this special sleepover package we will take you on an experience that you and your group will never forget. Throughout the course of your sleepover you will:
- See an IMAX® film
- Experience the marvel of a full-dome show in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre
- Learn about the night sky
- Visit the Observatory
- Perform fabulous science experiments
- Visit our exhibit galleries - And finally...
- Sleep under the stars in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre
Dates: Friday or Saturday evenings from September 28, 2012 to June 15, 2013.
Time: 6:30 pm to noon the following day. Bookings must be made at least two weeks in advance of the date of visit.
Cost: $59.95 + GST/participant
Please note that a separate fee will be required should your group be interested in our feature travelling exhibits which is not included with general admission or this program.

Details to Plan Your Sleepover:
- Participants must supply their own sleeping bag, air mattress or foam underlay, pillow and personal hygiene materials.
- 1 adult chaperone required for every 5 children. Chaperones are responsible for and must supervise and stay with their group during the entire visit.
- Evening pizza break and a morning breakfast are included in cost.
- Please note that some exhibit galleries will be under renovation during this period of time. Please inquiry at the time of booking which exhibit galleries will be available during your visit.
- An added fee may be required for certain travelling exhibits.
BEAVER GROUP SPECIAL
Beavers
Have your Beaver group enjoy a special showing of Beavers in IMAX® along with a showing of the full-dome show Secret of the Cardboard Rocket in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre for a special price of $12.75 + GST per Beaver and $12.75 + GST per adult. Groups may then spend time visiting our Exhibit Galleries after the two presentations.
Beavers in IMAX®
This amazing IMAX® film looks at the busy world of a beaver colony. The film was shot in the beautiful surroundings of Kananaskis Country near Calgary, Alberta and portrays the life, hazards and fun times of a beaver colony. Fun and educational for Beaver groups. Film length: 35 minutes
Secret of the Cardboard Rocket in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre
Climb aboard a magical cardboard rocket with two young adventurers, Marcus and Bonnie, and experience a breathtaking, up-close look at each of our solar system’s planets with guidance from “Astronomy Book” – a character personified by a wise, kind old man. It’s not until the end of the adventure when you find out what the true secret of the cardboard rocket is – something that makes this apparently impossible trip to the edges of our solar system possible. Show length: 40 minutes

REGISTRATION DEPOSIT
A $50 non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit is required at the time of registration with final payment due upon arrival.
For Sleepover Bookings, a deposit of $100 is required at time of booking, with final payment due upon arrival.
One adult chaperone is required for every five children for Sleepovers.
CANCELLATION POLICY
The $50/$100 deposit will not be refunded in the event of cancellation.
